To me, Vernazza is the most stunning of the Cinqueterre villages – not that all five aren’t absolutely breathtaking. On the day the painting group visited these towns, we hiked up a steep hill to a superb luncheon under the sun, after which we made our way down a cliff side to a ferry port. We didn’t make it to the port in time but in the attempt the painters rounded a coastal cliff corner and voila: this gorgeous scene.
