The Minoan palace site of Phaistos was devoid of visitors when we arrived. This majestic mountaintop ruin was alone in its magnificence; you could almost sense its inhabitants. This is something that can’t be done amidst the distraction of present--day tourists. These urns would have held the sustenance of the palace’s residents; wines, oils, various other nutrients.
